The goal of our program is to assist the new mother and her partner in creating a personally fulfilling birth and postpartum experience. Motherly care and guidance are provided by a professional staff of doulas, (pronounced Doo-la) a Greek word for those who mother the mother. These doulas can be either labor support birth doulas or postpartum (after the birth) doulas. In addition, Family Care Assistants, Tender Loving Caregivers, Registered Nurses, Lactation Consultants and Educational Specialists compliment the services we offer to our clients. A variety of service plans are available from consult visits to day and overnight plans. Extended overnight services are most beneficial for families with multiples, a newborn experiencing reflux, or a premature infant on a monitor. "Preparing for Baby" visits and telephone consultations (with either a Doula Specialist or a Certified Lactation Consultant) are also available. Mother & baby Matters individually tailors its service to meet the unique needs of each client and his or her family including cesarean, multiple and high-risk birth. Our office staff can assist in determining anticipated needs. Once registration is received, a preliminary interview is conducted to match the family with a doula or other staff person. A visit is then arranged between the client and the staff person to become acquainted and discuss precise needs.
Are Doula services covered by health insurance? Mother & baby Matters is finding that more and more companies’ insurance plans will cover Doula, Postpartum or Home Care services, as well as postpartum care for mental health issues, such as postpartum depression. The client’s individual policy would need to have benefits verified for this particular service. If you have any questions about whether your insurance will cover Doula, postpartum or Home Care services, please call your employer’s Human Resources or Benefits office. If Doula services are not covered by your insurance, you may be able to use Flexible Spending Account monies to pay for Doula services. Again, please call your employer’s Human Resources or Benefits office for details.
Mother & baby Matters participates as an “Out Of Network” provider and can complete paperwork for you so that you can submit for reimbursement from your insurer. Since we are already listed by many insurance companies as a provider, there is a better chance that your services will be covered when you use our company rather than an individual practitioner who is not listed as a provider. Mother & baby Matters does not participate with any insurance providers as an “In Network” provider and does not accept direct assignment of benefits from your insurer.
For Lactation visits by a Certified Lactation Consultant - many insurance plans cover these visits. A “Superbill” will be sent to the client after payment is made so that it can be submitted to the insurance company. The Superbill will show the CPT code and the Diagnosis code.
Mother & baby Matters’ National Provider Indicator (NPI) number and Tax I.D. are provided on our invoices, as well as the CPT and Diagnosis codes. |
