Postpartum Doulas

The postpartum doula is a valuable information resource and support person, especially sensitive to the needs of the new family.  Her calming presence encourages family bonding and helps the new mother realize her intuitive mothering skills, easing the transition from pregnancy, be it the first or the fourth.  This service also allows the father to give all his attention to his family knowing the household is running smoothly.  The postpartum doula provides:

·        Personal care and rest for the new mother

·        Newborn care including infants with special needs as well as multiples, premature births, apnea monitoring, reflux, etc.

·        Counseling and guidance in infant care, nutrition and hygiene

·        Support in postpartum issues, i.e. depression, nutrition and exercises

·        Breast and bottle feeding assistance

·        Instruction in infant stimulation

·        Information and guidance on the value of infant massage

·        Sibling care and adjustment

·        Light housekeeping, laundry, and meal preparation

·        Grocery shopping and short errands

·        Community resources and referrals

Doula Consult Visit:

Experienced/Certified Doulas also provide consultation visits for lactation assistance, organizing for the baby, feeding and sleep patterns, growth spurts and orientation for Au Pairs or Nannies.
